This video was created in co-operation with the filmmaker Hélène Kocken. Wed, 20 Jan 2010 00:00:00 GMT The Golem and the Dancer Dear supporters of Inventura Theatre, some of you aren’t lucky enough to be involved in our rehearsals. The atmosphere is unparalleled, and, since we’re not greedy, we’d like to share some of these experiences with you, at least second hand. So we’ve decided that we’ll always write something about it! Let’s start at the beginning of this year... Mon, 18 Jan 2010 00:00:00 GMT Aleš's Reality The collages of selected photographs by Aleš Koudela are a testament to his detail-oriented approach and his unorthodox perspective on otherwise completely mundane occurrences in his surroundings. The author’s fascination with detail and his curiosity lead Aleš, when he tries to find out “what it looks like in macro” to point the lens at his own insides. He is also a member of the theatre group Inventura, which is currently rehearsing the play Marťani (Martians). He has loved animated films since childhood, and he can name the creative teams of possibly all animated films ever made in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic from the 1960s until the present. After his film A Story about a Boy, a Girl and her Cat, he created Hubeňourek, a film whose protagonist is a boy who is teased for being different. The film has autobiographical elements. Along with other short animated films made as part of Inventura workshops, Hubeňourek helped kick off Normal Festival 2007. Wed, 07 Oct 2009 00:00:00 GMT The End of the World according to a Ram In 2008, Inventura’s film team worked intensively on comics and created its own comics characters. A girl called Zrzka (redhead) and a ram called Roland Garros III who creates catastrophes wherever he goes. Members of Inventura’s film workshop worked on this project with comics specialist Tomáš Hibi Matějíček and animator Jaromír Plachý, who drew the character. The characters also served as mascots of Normal Festival 2008, which was launched with a screening of the film The End of the World according to a Ram. Wed, 07 Oct 2009 00:00:00 GMT How Aleš met Harry Potter The screenwriter, illustrator and narrator of this film is Aleš Koudela, a young man who has Autism, loves Harry Potter and is interested in outer space. He combined his two passions in a simply illustrated film that nevertheless has a complex plot structure. Thanks to his unique sense of humour and inspiring questions, Aleš is one of the very beloved members of the film workshop at Inventura. His film was the hit of the second annual Normal Festival. Wed, 07 Oct 2009 00:00:00 GMT A Story about a Boy, a Girl and her Cat The author of this film is Josef Fojt. Josef has lived on the periphery of society all his life. He likes art of all sorts, especially theatre and film. He is able to name the creative teams of possibly all animated films ever made in the Czech Republic (and Czechoslovakia) from the 1960s until the present. He tried his own hand at animation for the first time with the film A Story about a Boy, a Girl and her Cat, based on a screenplay by Lenka Vochocová. It was the first animated film created by the group Inventura and screened at Normal Festival. Wed, 07 Oct 2009 00:00:00 GMT Lester's World Lester Magoogan is a young man with a unique perspective on life. The world and people around him are captured in his simple but evocative line drawings, which bring a smile to the face of all who see them. To meet Lester, laugh and smile with his drawings and be imbued with his contagious love of life and bubbling personality, is an experience not to be missed. Lester's World exhibitions open people's eyes as to the depths of Lester's observational drawing powers even though he cannot really read or write, and has the condition of Down's Syndrome. Tue, 06 Oct 2009 00:00:00 GMT Inventory check in process, but we remain open. What's up in Inventura? It has been nine months since our NGO Inventura was founded. It has successfully gone through the events of the prenatal period and it is now ready for a new life. Thu, 01 Oct 2009 20:46:00 GMT New year, new projects and the same objective The last months of the year 2006 were really busy in Inventura. In November we held Normální festival – a film festival which introduced films dealing with the topic of developmental disabilities to Czech audiences. We showed not only films about people with learning difficulties but also films made by these people. Two short films made at Inventura’s courses of animation had their premiere right at the festival and they certainly accomplished their objective as they made the audience laugh. Thu, 01 Oct 2009 20:46:00 GMT Inventura travels abroad to gain and share experience Networking activities constitute an important part of Inventura’s projects so there’ s no wonder we have been travelling a lot recently. At the beginning of June two of us visited Banská Bystrica (Slovakia), the home town of the Theatre From The Passage, and later that month we travelled even further – to Athens, where we visited the Emotion Pictures Film Festival and a conference on people with handicap and the mass media. Thu, 01 Oct 2009 20:46:00 GMT The film About Sex... his is really good news. The State Fund of the Czech Republic for Supporting the Czech Cinematography granted Inventura CZK 300.000 for the making of the film "About Sex..." The film is meant to be an educational tool for people with learning disabilities, who lack information about human sexuality and partnership issues. Also it will draw the attention of general public to a topic that is often disregarded and not well known – that people with learning disabilities have natural sexual and emotional desires which they want to come true as much as anyone without an apparent handicap. In adition to the cinematography fund the film About Sex... has so far received support from T-mobile Czech Republic. Thu, 01 Oct 2009 20:46:00 GMT Academy Award winner Adam Elliot supports Inventura Inventura's intention to make the film About Sex... managed to capture the attention of Adam Elliot whose Harvie Krumpet won the Oscar for best animated short film in 2003. Thu, 01 Oct 2009 20:46:00 GMT Inventura lives in live comicbooks One of things that the participants of our film-making courses are working on is a 'comicbook' film. Although the shooting requires thorough and demanding theoretical and practical preparation we've all been enjoying it a lot so far. In one of the lessons our film-makers tried to think up a comicbook on the topic of „Film-making courses in Inventura“. Thu, 01 Oct 2009 20:46:00 GMT
