I have healthy legs; I can go where I want

This text is part of a project in which Inventura interns create texts for an emerging educational web portal operated by the organisation People in Need.
My name is Robert and I work in a building
called MeetFactory. I go to the photography and film workshop at Inventura. And
at that film workshop I often watch animated, acted, documentary, and even
television films. My dream is to work on making some kind of television film,
and mainly to work with a clapperboard. But my biggest dream of all is to
become a director and to direct television films.
I like walking. I actually don’t care where; the main thing is that I’m walking
somewhere. I also really like to go fishing, but unfortunately I don’t have a
fishing licence yet. I like to go shopping, too.
My mom is always worried about me. She’s worried I’ll jump in front of a bus,
that I’ll get run over by a car, that I’ll fall under a tram. My mom’s also
worried I’ll get lost and won’t be able to find my way home. I have a physical
disability, you see, and I have epilepsy, and that’s why she worries I’ll get
lost somewhere, that she won’t be able to find me and will have to call the
police or the paramedics.
I understand that when someone has epilepsy, takes medication in the morning
and evening, and forgets to take it just once, that my mom really does have a
reason to worry about me. Because certain people are physically disabled, other
people worry lest something should happen to them, and it’s the same with my
mom. It’s just that she basically worries about me too much. She worries when I
go fishing… when I just go outside to take pictures, or to Duha or to
Inventura. I like going to Inventura most of all.
My friend who works with me at Duha is in a wheelchair. Her name is Dáda. Dáda
has a big disadvantage compared to me in that she can’t go where she wants like
I can. Dáda has an assistant, but I’m sure that even for her it’s very
difficult to help Dáda with everything. Dáda also has two flatmates. I’d like
to help Dáda and her flatmates sometime, because one or two assistants can’t
manage everything. I’d also like to take Dáda for a walk in the park, and I’d
also like to help her and her flatmates with meals, with dressing or with
shopping.
Sometime I’d like to repay Dáda for inviting me to visit her in her flat. I’d
like to invite her to our cottage and also for ice cream or sausage, and to
show her where we have horses there.
When I think about the fact that I have healthy legs and can walk almost
anywhere I want, and Dáda can’t, even if she wanted to, I’d like to help her
out sometime.
