Jubilee Square Fundraising Event
29.09.2010, OskaBright On Saturday 18th September some of us put on a fund raising event in Jubilee Square in the centre of Brighton. We were trying to let more people know about Carousel's work supporting arts by learning disabled people. We were also trying to raise money so that we can continue our good work helping to show the talents of learning disabled artists.
There was the Shut Up and Listen radio show, live music, dancing competitions, an information stand and we were there showing some films from some of our Oska Bright Film Festivals. We showed films in Brighton Jubilee Library, Pizza Express and myhotel – as well as outside in the main Jubilee Square. It was amazing!
Lots of people came along and learnt about Carousel and Oska Bright, even the Mayor was there, he gave a speech and danced to Beat Express!
We thought the event was very successful because we were given about £500 and talked to hundreds of people about the work of Carousel and Oska Bright.
We also raised money from our Oska Bright bird jumping off the pier at Bognor Bird Man. In total we think we raised about £1000 in sponsorship and also won a £100 prize for costume and performance. We are so happy about this that we have decided to do it every year both at Bognor but also at Worthing Birdman to raise more money. Watch this space!
